Job Purpose

The Material Follow-Up Specialist ensures the timely and complete delivery of materials, parts, and assemblies from local/overseas suppliers to the manufacturing plant. This role focuses on monitoring supplier performance, coordinating shipments, and ensuring adequate inventory levels to meet production demands.

Key Functional Responsibilities

Monitor Supplier Performance:

  • Track and document any issues or delays from suppliers.
  • Communicate promptly with suppliers to resolve shipment problems.
  • Maintain a detailed log of supplier performance for ongoing analysis and improvement.

Expedite Shipments:

  • Coordinate/arrange urgent shipments when necessary.
  • Inform relevant teams about expected delivery times for expedited shipments.
  • Monitor shipment updates/statuses in the SAP and TMS, including Estimated Dates of Arrival (EDAs) and Estimated Times of Arrival (ETAs).
  • Participate in root cause analysis for issues resulted to premium transportation.

Maintain Inventory Records:

  • Ensure accurate inventory levels are maintained in the SAP system by min/max evaluation.
  • Monitor results of inventory counts and discrepancies.

Resolve Supplier Issues:

  • Identify and communicate any problems with suppliers, such as shipping errors, labelling issues, or scheduling conflicts, and documentations issues.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to quickly resolve these issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Escalation of the issues based on the five alarms process. 

Support Production Requirements:

  • Follow up on the status of materials, parts, and assemblies to ensure timely arrival.
  • Communicate the status of critical parts to the relevant teams and stakeholders.
  • Support engineering changes, build-out/start-up/launch planning, and manufacturing validation builds.

Participate in Meetings:

  • Attend daily operations meetings to discuss material-related concerns and updates.
