Assistant Manager, Inbound Logistics
Job Summary:
The Inbound Logistics Assistant Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of logistics strategies for two manufacturing plants within the OEMs supply chain network. This role involves optimizing logistics operations, improving cost efficiency, ensuring supply chain resilience, and aligning logistics processes with business objectives. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with internal teams, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and key stakeholders to ensure seamless inbound and outbound logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Logistics Strategy & Network Optimization
Support the development and execution of a long-term logistics strategy for two OEM plants.
Optimize logistics flows, route planning, and distribution networks to enhance operational efficiency.
Identify opportunities to reduce logistics costs while maintaining service levels and delivery performance.
Assist in benchmarking logistics performance against industry best practices and competitors.
- Supply Chain & Transportation Management
Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
Support transportation strategy development, including carrier selection, freight negotiations, and performance monitoring.
Collaborate with procurement to align logistics strategies with supplier delivery capabilities and lead times.
Monitor and analyze freight cost structures, shipping lead times, and capacity planning.
- 3PL & Vendor Management
Work with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Assist in negotiating contracts, performance monitoring, and managing logistics service providers (LSPs).
Identify key areas for logistics service improvement and drive corrective actions.
- Process Improvement & Digitalization
Support logistics automation and digital transformation initiatives, including ERP and TMS integration.
Assist in developing KPIs and dashboards to monitor logistics performance.
Identify and implement lean logistics practices to drive efficiency and sustainability.
Work on warehouse and distribution optimization projects to enhance storage and handling efficiency.
- Logistics Risk & Compliance Management
Ensure compliance with local and international logistics regulations, customs policies, and trade laws.
Support the development of a risk management framework to mitigate disruptions in logistics operations.
Work closely with customs clearance teams to streamline import/export processes and reduce lead times.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with plant logistics, supply chain, production, procurement, finance, and IT teams to align logistics strategies.
Support logistics requirements for new product launches, expansions, and special projects.
Provide logistics insights and recommendations for executive decision-making and strategic planning.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Bachelor degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain strategy, or operational planning, preferably in an automotive OEM or manufacturing environment.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of inbound/outbound logistics, transportation modes, and distribution networks.
Experience with logistics cost analysis, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), TMS (Transport Management Systems), and data analytics tools.
Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities to drive logistics improvements.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and logistics modeling tools.
