Lead Specialist, Suspension Links/Knuckle

Chassis Center

Job Purpose

Responsible for the technical leadership, design, development, and release of suspension links and steering/suspension knuckles for CEER vehicle programs.

Own the successful delivery of all engineering aspects of suspension links and knuckles from concept, feasibility, and vehicle packaging phases through serial production and aftersales support, ensuring achievement of cost, quality, weight, timing, durability, and functionality targets.

Responsible for all internal technical activities related to suspension links and knuckles, including coordination of global engineering service suppliers and supply chain partners.

Ensure robust integration of suspension components with steering, braking, chassis, BIW, wheel-end, tire/wheel, and ePowertrain systems.

Support innovation, benchmarking, and concept development activities to improve performance, manufacturability, cost competitiveness, and vehicle attributes.

Conduct benchmarking and concept evaluations to support system selection, new concept development, and cost-down initiatives.

Job Roles & Key Functional Responsibilities

Product Design & Development

  • Develop and own 3D and 2D CAD designs for suspension knuckles and links using Siemens NX, from concept, feasibility, and packaging stages through serial release.
  • Generate, evaluate, and mature design concepts and technical solutions to achieve vehicle-, system-, and component-level requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with fit, form, and function requirements while integrating components with adjacent chassis, steering, braking, suspension, BIW, and ePowertrain systems.
  • Perform vehicle packaging studies, static and dynamic clearance assessments, and DMU-based evaluations to ensure functional robustness across full suspension and steering travel.
  • Apply basic Kinematics & Compliance (K&C) knowledge to support packaging studies and identify design risks during concept development.
  • Design and develop components from concept through serial production with FSS or B2P suppliers.

Manufacturing & Feasibility

  • Conduct manufacturing feasibility reviews across casting, forging, stamping, machining, welding, assembly, additive manufacturing, and rubber moulding processes.
  • Optimize designs for cost, quality, weight, durability, manufacturability, and assembly efficiency.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Serviceability principles throughout the product development cycle.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and suppliers to ensure production readiness and successful industrialization.

Engineering Analysis & Validation

  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and define key product and process characteristics to ensure dimensional robustness and assembly consistency.
  • Support and participate in DFMEA activities, ensuring effective identification and mitigation of technical risks.
  • Develop and maintain component-, system-, and vehicle-level validation plans (DV/PV) aligned with program requirements.
  • Interpret CAE, simulation, test, and validation reports, and implement appropriate corrective actions to achieve performance and durability targets.
  • Establish and maintain specifications, Statements of Requirements (SORs), material specifications, finish specifications, and engineering standards documentation.

CAD, PLM & Release Management

  • Prepare, review, approve, and release 2D engineering drawings with appropriate GD&T in accordance with CEER standards and applicable international standards.
  • Manage CAD models, assemblies, configurations, revisions, releases, and engineering change management activities using Teamcenter.
  • Own BOM accuracy and engineering release deliverables throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Maintain design documentation and support technical reviews, audits, and program milestones.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate activities with CAE, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, prototype build teams, and suppliers to resolve design, feasibility, validation, and launch-readiness issues.
  • Support prototype builds, trial assemblies, vehicle integration events, validation testing, and early production launches.
  • Present technical status, risks, countermeasures, and recommendations clearly and effectively during management and cross-functional reviews.
  • Confidently manage suppliers, engineering service providers, and technical partners to ensure performance aligned with CEER requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to CEER engineering processes, standards, gateways, and product development deliverables.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Support cost reduction, localization, value engineering, weight optimization, and quality improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Promote innovative thinking through the introduction of new tools, technologies, design methodologies, and engineering best practices.
  • Utilize strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills to drive data-based technical decisions.
  • Conduct benchmarking and concept evaluations using A2Mac1 to support architecture selection, product development, competitive assessments, and cost-down opportunities.
