Senior Specialist, Machining Center

Prototype Shop Center

Job Purpose

To operate and maintain both composite and metal 3D printer systems to support prototype part manufacturing and advanced research projects. This includes developing and implementing process controls to ensure quality, supporting material development and optimization activities, and managing project planning.

 

Key Functional Responsibilities

  • Operate 3D printing machines, including both metal and composite printers of different technologies.
  • Prepare, slice, and optimize build files using CAD and slicing software (preferably Siemens NX, 3Dxpert).
  • Monitor and control all aspects of machine operation and associated activities.
  • Conduct part inspection, calibration, and post-processing (de-powdering, heat treatments).
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with other teams and process engineers to improve print strategies, build orientation, and support generation.
  • Optimize process parameters for improved performance.
  • Ensure safety and quality compliance according to ATEX standards.
  • Manage material inventory and support material selection based on customer requirements.
  • Support material development activities.
  • Manage turnkey jobs and projects—working with internal customers to plan, develop, and execute jobs that meet requirements.

 

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institute (preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating industrial metal 3D printers.
  • Proven experience in additive manufacturing.

Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of CAD/CAM software (preferably Siemens NX).
  • Knowledge and experience with additive manufacturing software, technologies, and techniques.
  • Experience with electromechanical systems, including drives, actuators, and motion control.
  • Experience in post-processing operations.
  • Experience with CNC and conventional machining (a plus).
